Keegan's Sketches

Keegan really enjoys drawing and this last year has gotten even more interested in trying different materials and styles. She has enjoyed and learned from several different books.
Recently, she came upon this series at the library and it has made a huge difference in specific things she is drawing.

I thought the bodies on these athletes looked so realistic!
The gymnast is my favorite.

She asked me to mention that she hasn't worked on her faces yet :).

This book helped her do a great job! Very cool.

Multi-talented girl

Kelsey has a book that tells how to make balloon animals.
She had enjoyed it before, but ran out of the long, skinny balloons it required. We recently got some more and she has been busy using them.
On your left is a teddy bear holding a flower. On your right is a yellow elephant.
I'm pretty impressed :).

More b-ball

Keegan's and Kelsey's basketball games were snowed out this weekend (to the girls' chagrin, and mine, too, although I was relieved not to drive in the snow!)
Keegan is still waiting, but Kelsey has already had her make-up game.

Keegan, the scorekeeper/statistician.
If you live around G'ville, you should recognize the Carnival shirt. Keegan loves hers. She wears it at least once a week. :)
They cracked me up, each so determined to get her arm in front of the next girl.

<-- Ready to receive
A little meeting with the coaches -->

It was a fun, close game.  The other team had a close friend, which is always fun. Also, these teams were pretty closely matched, keeping the game interesting throughout.

As if the make-up game wasn't enough...  Kelsey, Keegan, and some other kids played a  pick up game afterwards

Orange #2 there is the good friend whom Kelsey's team played. I guess she didn't get enough during the game, either :).

Hoping Keegan will get to make up her game, too!

A Typical Night

Virtually every night this otherwise intelligent teen-ager very dedicated ballerina puts a blanket on the floor and starts stretching and exercising.
That lasts about ten second before the dog comes, sticking her nose in Caitlyn's face and wanting to be petted. Caitlyn patiently pushes away the dog with a foot or hand, whichever is closer :).
The cat then brings her a toy, wanting to play fetch. Caitlyn gamely gives the toy a toss.
The cat returns the toy, eager to play some more. The dog then realizes that the cat is receiving attention and becomes ever more determined to fit onto Caitlyn's lap. And push away the cat at the same time.
Caitlyn pets that cat and again pushes away the dog. We all reach a certain level of frustration.
Finally, Mom intervenes and the dog is put on a leash and held where she can not reach Caitlyn (who usually continues to play with the cat) until finally - success! An exercise!
You can see the pitiful head of the dog who is as far as the leash will let her go, still trying to join in the fun.
Poor girl. With all these distractions, it's a wonder she can do a split at all!
Just a typical night!

Wordless Wednesday - A Typical Sight

Well, almost wordless :). This is also excessively typical for Caitlyn. She just didn't happen to be in the room when I had my camera out that day :)

Keegan Quote - Typical Keegy Conversation

"You don't want to meet up with a barracuda. They can be up to ten feet long and they can swim twenty-five miles an hour. So, especially if it's hungry, you don't want to meet one."

She's right. I don't.

Kelsey Quote

Kelsey and I occasionally play Family Feud on Facebook.  Recently the survey question was, "Name someone you would not want to see you naked." She promptly and emphatically responded, "Anyone!"
Good girl :).
