Senior Night!

Keegan, Kelsey, Brooklin, and I went to the Lady Vols Soccer Senior Night/Final Game and had a ball! (Brooklin left with her mommy before the end, but we continued having fun, anyway ;).
In the end, Tennessee won a hard fought battle.
We did our part by cheering!
There were several fun (FREE) activities for the kids, including face painting and an inflatable jump house and obstacle course.

Brooklin's plan all day was to jump in the bounce house.  Which she did.  But once she tried the obstacle course, she was hooked! Never mind that she couldn't climb the wall without help, never mind that she was the smallest kid on it, never mind that she about got squished and fell coming through the rollers at the end.
 This was fun!
Whether it looked like it to the aunt or not :).
She went through it again and again, proceeding to wear out Kelsey and Keegan, which is no small feat.

Keegan brought her ball to get it autographed afterwards.
Kelsey game quotes -
"Georgia looks good.  Of course we are good, too.  But tonite it just matters that we are better than they are!"
and finally, seeing the Georgia players boarding their bus to leave,
"I am sure glad I don't have to ride home from a sports event in a bus because it must smell awfully sweaty!"

Go ahead, make my day

The other day, Keegan sure did.  Keegan is not known for a lack of feeling, ever.  Positive or negative, she feels her emotions strongly.

When I got into the car to go somewhere, this was on the steering wheel.

It opened to say this -
So sweet and unexpected, it truly did make my day.

I won't mention how I accidentally blew the horn, trying to press the note down so it would stick well, thereby making my neighbors jump and my passengers giggle.

You've Got Mail

This was so clever! Keegan and Kelsey created this traveling mailbox between their windows and had so much fun sending things back and forth.  I especially loved it because when I was growing up I had a friend who lived across the street.  She and I always said we would do something like this.  So there they were, living out my childhood dream. (Probably lots of kids thought of that kind of thing, but I thought it was pretty cool.)

Disney!

Waiting for the show to start, being cute

 even very cute :)
Playing hide-and-seek, waiting for the show to start.  Hiding spots were rather limited.  Especially since everyone had to remain in my sight at all times :). But they had fun, anyway.

The show was SO enjoyable, much better than I had expected.
(We loved the seahorses' costumes.)

This show included Cars, Pixie Hollow, Toy Story, and The Little Mermaid.

An unexpected favorite for us was the group of Toy Story soldiers.  We loved their straight lines and that they stayed completely synchronized!.

A good time was had by all!

Keegan Quote

Keegan, getting frustrated when her pen wouldn't write, "Write, pen." Scribble, scribble, scratch. "You are pretty useless, pen."

Soccer!

Keegan, loaded up with water, chair, ball, hoodie, etc., ready to play!
Looks like a lot of stuff for a one hour game, doesn't it?
 Kelsey, ready to watch.
Keegan played goalie half of the game this week.  That always makes me nervous! They only scored twice on her out of nine attempts. I was pretty proud.  But still nervous :).

Kelsey thought it got a little chilly, haha.
Funniest call on Keegan ever - Keegan was having a great play, dribbling up the sideline toward her goal.  Suddenly, the referee blew the whistle not one, but three times.  She and I both stared at him blankly, having no idea what had happened.
Turns out he blew it for a good reason, but it was nothing Keegan did.  A girl and boy had decided to take a short cut, carrying their chair and things right across the field! The ref said something to the effect of, "We are playing a game," but it didn't faze them.  They just ambled right on across.
A bit puzzled as to how to resolve the situation, the ref finally just waited out the walkers, then gave Keegan an indirect kick.  Seemed fair to me!

Caitlyn Quote

Caitlyn was giving an oral review of U.S. History.  After the Revolutionary War, she summed up the situation by saying, "Basically what was left was an independent mess."
:) Love it.

Aren't they cute?

One day the girls and I were talking and they arranged themselves like this.  It was so cute, I just had to document it with a picture.
That's the short story.
The long story includes all of the above, but also the fact that every time I took a picture, Kelsey's eyes were closed,or almost closed
.
She had a spell when this happened ALL OF THE TIME.
Finally I started saying, "Kelsey, please keep your eyes open."
 It didn't help.
Eventually, Keegan gave this helpful demonstration, saying, "Kelsey, do like this!"
Hahaha.  The last picture might be my favorite of all :D.

Kelsey Quote

Playing trivia -
The question, "What is Vermont famous for - cranberries, oranges, or maple syrup?"
Excited Kelsey, "CHEESE!"

What happens when Keegan plays with my camera....

She wasn't real keen on this one, but I thought it was too funny to omit :).

Summer

Now that fall is in the air, I am finally getting around to posting some leftover summer pictures. There are a lot of swimming pictures, but then again, we did a lot of swimming this year :).

Happy fall, y'all!
